Reducing Agent (Electron Donor): A substance that loses electrons during a chemical reaction, causing another substance to be reduced. The reducing agent is oxidized as it donates electrons. In a redox reaction, the reducing agent drives the reduction process by providing electrons.

Example: Sodium acts as a reducing agent when it donates an electron to chlorine, forming sodium chloride (NaCl).
